LWHS Graduation Requirements are based on UC and CSU requirements for 220-250 credits
The following is a list of the high school course requirements for Living Wisdom High School graduation and for University of California and California State University acceptance. Often, students elect to take additional course work, increasing their earned credits. Therefore, Living Wisdom High School offers further options including Advanced Placement courses, courses taken at Foothill College (for dual credit), and special courses relevant to the specific needs and interests of the student.
Note: Most core academic courses are A-G UC/USC approved.
English: 40 credits required
Mathematics: 30 credits required; 40 credits recommended for college-bound students
Three years, including Algebra I & ll, Geometry. Four years recommended, depending on the student’s long-term interests.
Science: 20 credits required; 30 to 40 credits recommended for college-bound students
Two years required. One biological science and one physical science, each with labs. Three or four years may be recommended, depending on the student’s long-term interests.
Social studies: 35 credits required
Three and a half years of history/social studies required, including:
* One semester of Geography (5 credits)
* One year of World History (10 credits)
* One year of U.S. History (10 credits)
* One semester of U.S. Government/ Civics (5 credits)
* One semester of Economics (5 credits)
Foreign language: 20 credits required; 30 credits recommended
Two years of the same language required. Three years recommended.
Visual and performing arts: 10 credits required
One year of visual and performing arts; choices include, but are not limited to the following: dance, Drama/Theater, music or Visual Arts.
Physical Education: 20 credits required; 30 to 40 recommended
Health and well-being: 5 credits required
Electives: 40 to 60 credits
Over 140 electives are available to choose from.
